trooper-004There certainly is a long of excitement about the upcoming Star War: The Old Republic, better known as TOR. I will admit that I am also quite excited about this one as well. I am sure I will put in some time playing this one for sure. Don’t worry though it doesn’t mean I will be giving up DDO. :)

The Flashpoints for Star Wars: The Old Republic are getting a lot of press and being pushed by TOR, as enthralling, story driven areas of danger and excitement.

Band together with your most trusted allies to undertake some of the most dangerous missions in the galaxy! Flashpoints are action-packed, story-driven adventures that test a group of players to their limits, putting them up against difficult foes in volatile situations. You and your group need your wits, your skills, and all your resources to emerge victorious. Every Flashpoint begins with an exciting story and contains difficult decisions – choose carefully, because your group’s choices have a meaningful impact on the challenges you’ll face, the enemies you’ll fight, and the outcome of the story! All the danger is certainly worthwhile; the rewards from Flashpoints are some of the most powerful you’ll find.

They definitely sound interesting but I can’t help but think that isn’t this what 95% of DDO is right now? The biggest twist I see is being able to change the story as you make your way through. I really look forward to running these but I hope they are either way more then they are saying, or there are way more of them in the game. I am trepidations about how combat, and the real XP grind ends up in TOR. I think DDO has spoiled us and taken us away from the kill 20 rats to a more immerse story and instance driven game experience. Let’s hope these Flashpoints do the same thing.

Here is the newest one they have released, Hammer Station.

The Hammer, a powerful prototype battle station developed by the Republic, was believed to have been destroyed during the war. However, this terrible weapon has re-emerged in the hands of the Advozsec, who are using it to conquer unaligned worlds in the Outer Rim. Setting out to stop the Advozsec’s campaign, an Imperial strike team assaults the Hammer and battles to take control.
