My ultimate gaming love has to be table top pen and paper play. There is nothing quite like sitting around a table, with a group of your good friends, rolling 20 siders and kicking dragon arse. There is so much more to it, but you get the idea. :)
My group tried so hard to get on board with 4e. We played it for almost 2 years trying to give it it's fair shake. From level 1 to 30 over 60 or 70 adventures. It had its good points and good ideas, but ultimately we decided that it was not a better system, it was just a different system.
So we went back to 3.5. This was hard after playing 4e for so long but the character creation and the true variety of customizations available made us all quite happy. However we did like a few things of 4e and had some independent idea of our own. So now we are playing 3.5ish game with a house rule overlay that seems to be working great. Its tons of fun and I think we are all happy to be back using 3.5.
How has your experience been with D&D? Do you even play table top or use the D&D rules? What other systems do you play with and why?
Since we are heavily modding 3.5 I would be very interested in your thoughts and ideas. Even different things from different systems that we can slap into our house rule set to make the best game ever, even better!
Thanks for your thoughts and ideas!
