How important are named items to you now? With crafting and crafters getting up so they can now make the really cool stuff for others, how important are the specific items when you can just make something custom to fit your character?

I am sure some effects cannot be achieved by crafting. The special procs of some items, for example.

That's true. Also I think that some of the named items have powers on them that would make them higher level if they were crafted as well. So if you get a named item with the powers you might be able to use it at a lower level.

Hmm, yes. But I also think as your crafting reaches higher levels, it is the other way around. I have seen some pretty sick ML1 to 5 items that a friend of mine with very high crafting made for his TR. But then again, that was for lowbies. Items like Madstone boots(Even though I know they'll probably get hit by the nerfbat in U13) got a clicky/proc you will use through-out the game, starting at level 13. I doubt any crafted item will be that good. Again, it is the procs and very special items. :)

It's definitely nice to be able to custom build an item to your character for sure. In a lot of ways it is much easier then farming item X some place.

I will tell you though that making gear for alts, newb gear, totally and completely rocks! Look at the AH and they have a ring of underwater breathing on there for 15k. So switch to your crafter, buy the cheapest ring you can find and then slap a shard on there. Boya!

Well, I honestly gotta admit that I never got into crafting. Why? Eh, I just find it too much of a grind, really. I have considered to become a more casual crafter who just crafts as he randomly picks up the ingredients I need and so on.. But for now, I just sell my essences as I just switched servers, and they are a good resource of coins.

I know this might be the wrong place and all, but I would just like to throw out a 'by the way'; Great site! Lots of useful information. Haven't heard about it until now, but I will sure share this with my guildies. B-)

That makes sense. It can get tedious. Though with the changes to the speed of combines it has really helped. I end up crafting while I am doing other stuff and can not commit to a quest or whatever.

Though, even getting up into the 40's or 50's can be useful, especially for twink gear. However, I bet it is hard to pass up the cash from selling essences... I sit around and watch my cash go down down down as I crunch every item I can and buy essences. Hehe

Thanks for the compliment on the site! I appreciate it! Please tell you friends family, neighbors and anyone else that may be interested. I plan on doing some upgrades here soon so keep an eye for them. :)
