Auraxyllon, the spectral dragon, has stolen a horde of crystals and is holed up in his extra planar palace. Normand D’Cannoth wants you to head into this extra planar palace and help the kobolds get the crystals back.
The Extraplanar Palace challenge area is best suited to anyone 10th level and over. Inside the palace you will find a Kobold Foreman and his crew, eager to take back the crystals that Auraxyllon has stolen. If you help them they will pay you well.
You will be tasked with leading the kobolds to the best caches of crystals with incense torches, keeping the kobolds safe, clearing out areas of danger, and finding other valuables within the Extra planar Palace.
As with the other challenge areas within House Cannith, all of the challenge quests in the Extraplanar Palace have a few things in common:
- This area works the same as the 5th Anniversary Event, Crystal Cove. You can look to the other guides in DDM’s Realm as well as the video, “Mastering the Torches”, to pick up tips and tricks for a successful quest.
- Green crystals are worth 1 and purple crystals are worth 10.
- Named enemies can drop supply crates in your inventory. When these are double clicked they will generate random loot for you. It’s best to wait until you are out of the dungeon to click them since it can use up a lot of inventory space.
- Run this quest once with the sole purpose of clearing off the whole map. If you do this, the dragon can be seen and then you can work your way towards that area.
- Be careful in here; the kobold area is quite open and can be attacked from any angle. Make sure to leave a defender or two to keep an eye on them. The kobolds can easily be chased into an area where they will die quickly.
- It is very easy to switch lines in the palace. Just think of a train track and switch it over. Set one line they are working on and a second you can switch to. Once the second line is being harvested, pull up the first line and start working on the third.
- The kobolds will go after crystals that are in rooms that are close to the line so make sure you clear at least 1 room past the line. The best would be to clear the entire side that the dragon is on.
- Be careful making your torch lines as they can get really muddled because the room sizes don’t really match the torch distance well.
- Salteshka, a Rahksasha Lord, is the a mini boss to watch out for in the palace.
The Dragon’s Horde
- Level: 10-20
- Duration: 20 Minutes
- Pays: Enchanted Armor Fragments
- Quest Completion Goal: Collect 350 Crystals
- Star Optional: Collect 300 crystals above your Quota
- Star Optional: Defeat the Dragon Auraxyllon
- Star Optional: Allow the Foreman to be killed
- Star Optional: Slay 120 monsters
This is a pretty straight forward quest without too many twists and turns. The hardest part is just defending your work since there are a lot of enemies in the Extraplanar Palace for you to battle.
There are three big rooms in the north, east and west. One of these will have the dragon Auraxyllon. Killing this dragon is one of the Star Optionals. You can also get a Supply Chest and the room usually has a lot of crystals in it as well.
Once you have purchased what you want, you can train the Foreman or allow one of the waves to kill him. However, I would wait because he is the only way to raise dead kobolds and they seem to die fast and easily in here. Once you have the rest of the Star Optionals completed, you can just back off and let the last of the waves kill him. They will likely push him into the tar which will help to kill him even quicker.
Send one killer out in this quest to wreck shop and get the Star Optional, Slay 120 monsters. This character should be self-sufficient. The rest of the party should focus on watching kobolds as they like to wander off in the maze that is the Extra planar Palace.
Buying Time
- Level: 12-20
- Duration: 5 Minutes
- Pays: Mephit Wing
- Quest Completion Goal: Collect 300 Crystals
- Star Optional: Collect 300 Crystals above your quota
- Star Optional: Defeat the Dragon Auraxyllon
- Star Optional: Do not buy any Teleporters
- Star Optional: Buy less than 9 minutes of Time
This quest is fairly straightforward. You just need to collect crystals from the area. The trick is that you start with only 5 minutes of time, so the pressure of this quest is a lot higher to start with.
Don’t buy any teleporters, in order to fulfill one of the Star Optionals. Instead of forging deep into the Extraplanar Palace, the idea is to go about halfway in and then move to the next area. Since you didn’t buy any teleporters, you want the Kobolds to stay as close as possible. For this challenge quest you should buy all the torches, workers and barrels. If you want to increase your chances for success, get more worker and barrel requisitions to really load up and the workers.
Pick a side and start clearing it. Make sure you have a defender or two watching the starting point. The rest of the group should head in and clear the area while one person builds a loop in the area. This way the kobolds can attack the crystals from two fronts and have an option of which way they can go to collect. Remember, we want to keep them close this time so we can collect crystals quickly with no teleporters.
Buy the supplies you need and start collecting. Once you have 25 crystals go ahead and by three levels of time. Stop with only 9 extra minutes so you can work towards the Star Optional. If you have to buy more, have the defender do it at the last moment.

- 10 Crystals for 3 more Minutes
- 15 Crystals for 3 more Minutes
- 20 Crystals for 3 more Minutes
- 25 Crystals for 3 more Minutes
- 30 Crystals for 3 more minutes
- 35 Crystals for 3 more minutes
- 40 Crystals for 3 more minutes
Once you have about half of one side cleaned out and the kobolds are not taking loads back , switch to the next side. Don’t go deeper because the kobolds are just going to have to go further. Move the loop to the next section of the palace and work on clearing that out. Rinse and repeat for the third side.
Keep an eye on the crystal count so you know where you are. Figure you want about 250 crystals a section to meet your quota and get the Star Optionals.
Labor Shortage
- Level: 14-20

- Star Optional: Keep all kobolds alive
- Star Optional: Find all the Azure Motes
- Star Optional: Buy at least 7 Powerups
In Labor Shortage you have a set 10 minutes to collect all your crystals and finish all of the Star Optionals. You cannot increase time so you have to ben on the ball to get this done. Shift your torches over to one side and focus on that. It should be more than enough to finish the quest.
First thing you should do is buy the permenant Powerups for the kobolds. The best route should be to get the Super Speed Buff to start. Then pick up the permanent speed and healing buffs. Next you will want to get your torches and supplies.
Once you have your supplies all bought you should be able to start buying buffs for them. I would suggest the Super Speed Buff above anything else. This will crack out the kobolds and get this done fast, which is what you need to do to complete this quest challenge.

Have the group clear the side you are going to work. This should generally be the one the dragon is on. Clear everything and then send one or two people into the quest challenge to hunt out the Azure Motes. You might want a caster look for the emotes. Haste and Invisibility are your friends here.
Be very careful and watch the map to make sure none of your kobolds gets away. With speed and super speed if they get agro they may run away in a hurry training the whole area onto themselves. This is why you should keep a few people watching the line and making sure the kobolds stay corralled. It is very easy for them to shoot off somewhere and die.
With time being short, you must hurry! Zerg destroy everything in your section along with the dragon then keep a close eye on the kobolds. You should only need to run one line as they will go into rooms adjacent to the line to collect as well.
Once you have all of the crystals pull up the torches and move the pack of kobolds to the center and keep a careful eye on them so nothing kills them. Have a couple people watch them and have the rest of the party spread out and find the last of the Azure Motes.
